It is a lifetime fluid. It’s just that Audi’s definition of lifetime is “old enough to be outside of warranty”.
Haha - Exactly. Even when ZF themselves say every 50,000 miles

But Audi procedures don’t even call for changing the water pump when doing the timing belt.

Re: Looking at buying a 2003 RS6 - a couple questions

Hard to believe the original service interval from Audi for the BCY timing belt was 3 years/35,000 miles. Mostly due to the use of a plastic impeller on the water pump and an abundance of caution on Audi's part with an engine that was a one-off for them. Once people began replacing them with uprated...

Re: Rear differential rebuild

I would be skeptical of the diff being the issue as well... I'd suspect the rear diff bushing, an axle, or the center support bearing before I would condemn a differential. Althought it would be easy to cut to the chase - They should be able to drain the diff fluid and observe metal shavings if the ...

Re: Upper O2 sensors removal

I've heard of people doing this, but I have always seen them use these types of tools in addition to dropping the engine 4-5 inches via the subframe. It would make less sense to try to do it in situ in comparison to how relatively easy it is to lift the car off the subframe to give you the extra bit...

Re: Water pump under manifold

The pump is designed to shut off after 10 minutes. I'm guessing they just put the timer in the pump so that it receives the off signal from the relay and continues to run for 10 minutes thereafter then shuts itself off without a signal from the ECM.
