Re: Does anyone know how to activate auxiliary water pump with VCDS?
Tried it. It does not have the option under the output test. It activates only the SAI pump (secondary air injection). Looking at the service manual all the tests prerequisites start with engine warm to at least 90C (can’t remember specifically the temperature) if temperature not achieved drive car ...

Anyone here with resonators delete?
A friend that modded some cars from a different platform (non audi) told me that he got great results from factory exhaust with resonator delete (nothing else: mufflers still in place). Looking for more low end noise with a budget. I do have to mention I have mufflers delete now on the car and insid...

Does anyone know how to activate auxiliary water pump with VCDS?
Long story short, the electric water pump died under the intake manifold. Not only that but the electrical connector at the water pump has disintegrated. It literally crumbled into little pieces (heat, I’m assuming). Got a new pump, new connector. I did check the wiring diagram: brown is negative, r...

Re: Power steering questions…
Update: got another power steering pump on. It’s a pita to replace even with the front end off completely because the engineers figured the steering pump should have a bolt in the back side because why not? I mean you can fit a boxed end wrench in there with the ratcheting end, but the clearance is ...

Re: 18155 - transmission solenoid power relay
Not much knowledge from me when it comes to the transmission, but my bet for the water leak is the cowl cover got moved or the plenum chamber cover is not seated properly in the cowl cover slit. By cowl cover I mean the plastic bit with holes for the wiper arms, sits right up against the windscreen ...

Re: Power steering questions…
Yeah, I am super confused, because I love the sportiness and very quick response when driving more than 10 mph, but when I park the car or do a 3 point turn it seems kind of hard to steer. I will probably flush the system, and put a newer pump on (I do have a lower mileage one available), but it mig...

Re: Power steering questions…
Well, to answer my own question, partly, I found good information on how to test the servotronic in the service manual. The problem I have is that slot 13 where the relay sits per service manual in the 13-fold relay panel is missing (no wires, nothing just a plastic surround that would hold a relay)...

Re: Power steering questions…
Hi. Maybe you have a servotronic that is broken? A workin...

Re: Power steering questions…
I don't know. It might be clogged. I have no idea if there's a good and safe way of cleaning it all out. Did you take out all the old power steering fluid and replace it? No, I only replaced what leaked out from the cooler pipe and some from the 2 hoses connected to it. Obviously I used new fluid, ...

Re: Power steering questions…
No. It's normal weight power steering. Is it worse turning one way rather than another? Some of the front steering bits can go stiff with lack of use or wear. Mine was a bit heavy until I had something changed but can't remember what it was. Check front tyre pressures are ok as if they're low then ...

Power steering questions…
First time RS6 owner here… I mean I had the car for a year and I’m getting it back to life. Anyway, does the power steering on these cars not ‘help’ as much with steering on purpose or is the pump not working right? I own 2 other C5 Audis and both have way better power steering . On this car I have ...

Re: Abs code 00283 front left sensor short to plus
Update: had the module sent out for rebuild and drove the car for one day: no ABS warning light. Good call! $160 on eBay and about 2 weeks turn around: a few days to get there, a couple of days to get it fixed and a few days to get it back. What a pain to remove the windshield washer reservoir (2 pu...

Re: Looking at buying a 2003 RS6 - a couple questions
Hi Suz. I would just add. I also do the thermostat and extra roller that’s not included in the kit every time I do the timing belt. Good point on water pump. To date I have not removed a pump with the plastic impeller. Mine have all been metal. Unit 20 have done my Cambelts and water pumps. Hi allr...

Re: Looking at buying a 2003 RS6 - a couple questions
I have 3 service manuals, one on paper and 2 different online versions. The smallest timing belt interval I can find on a 4.2l is 75 kmiles on 2004 models. They don’t specifically mention BCY or rs6, so maybe in UK/Europe is different. Up to year 2003 on the 4.2 L and the majority of engines sold he...

Re: Looking at buying a 2003 RS6 - a couple questions
Cambelt at 40,000 miles or 4 years? What juice are you on? I think it’s 10 years or 80Kmiles, service manual probably asks for 105Kmiles. Unless you use Chinese cam belts, then change them once a year. You want to tell me that you changed your cambelt 5 times already? I have a Jeta with 260Kmiles an...
