I have the same problem with the rpms when driving the car and giving it alittle then stoping it does that have you found the problem?

Can somone help after driving hard I came to an redlight stop and the gauge went up to aprox 950rpms without me toutching the gas and stays there like im giving gas does anyone know what it is or if it is normal when i later turn car off and on again its normal again
