FS: Used H&R coilovers set for B5 S4
This set has been on my car for about 70K until the front nearside damper lost its oil. Rather than refurb, I decided to replace the whole set-up. In places the coating on the springs has cracked and some has flaked off. So in addition to needing to replace the damper, the springs need to be refurbi...

Brake wear sensors?
I have the brake warning light (yellow - single beep) but no DTCs. I have had the ABS warning before, so suspect that I'll need to do the 'ECU fix' sometime in the future, but I don't think this is it now. My front brake pad wear sensors are shorted out (due to my Porsche upgrades), so it would need...

RE: Faulty Fuel Gauge
B5 has a 'known' sender reliability problem, so yes, that is the likely cause.

RE: New old Car yesterday = today loadsa faults
The whole point of diffs is to allow for different rates of rotation so there is no way that different tyres can cause problems here. A while back I did a thorough search on the subject and could find absolutely no evidence. of course different tyres can affect grip & handling, but that's another ma...

My best guess is that you have indeed identified the problem which is an air-leak after the MAF. This could explain the noise, the low MAF reading (air is getting sucked in after the MAF, so less going through it), and possibly the positive charge pressure deviation, if the leak is enough to affect ...

Call me synical, but it is easy for 'top-of-the-range' products to become the 'kit of choice'. Apart from the price, the fact that the PSS9s have adjustable damping convinces me NOT to have them: I already have OCD for many things, and I don't want yet more insomnia worrying about whether or not I h...

Hi David, interesting to know that H&R offer to refurb, but I'm against it on principle. I once had alloy wheels refurbed, but was not really happy with the results. In the end I bought new wheels and in hindsight should have done so sooner instead of the refurb. I still intend to keep this car for ...

Thanks for the answers. I have no doubt that PSS9s are good, but I also have no doubt that they are simply too good. They are expensive and I am sure that I would not get the benefit for the money. However my experience with H&R coilovers suggests that I should still have coilovers rather than anoth...

RE: Part Number Please
Can't give you the number, but I know that it it quite easy to remove the unit: It has the standard plastic clips which need to be pushed back with a small flat-bladed screwdriver and then the unit lifts up and out.

TMC/CAN gateway is behind the driver's side knee bolster. If factory fitted it will be on a bracket below the steering column.

Had my shock inspected today - looks like most if not all of the fluid has leaked out. Not only that the rear springs show signs of wear. The H&R coilovers are now 8 years old and it is time to replace the whole lot. As there is no reason why I HAVE to replace with the same, I am wondering what susp...

I'm approaching 85K on original turbos with mods as my sig. No sign of problems, but then I do look after them. When it comes to buying a used car I would agree that if it has done 80K or more, then you need to be prepared for the possibility of turbo replacement, because the window of 'end of norma...

RE: Re: Engine Management System light problem
Thanks Dave. I think it was a laptop problem. I updated my VCDS and USB driver and tried again with complete success. It turns out the that fault is an old fault I inherited when my Miltek exhaust was fitted (I believe it runs a bit too cooler than standard so a temperature is sometimes below thresh...
