Re: Spigot Rings - Wheel wobble and vibrations

One step at a time... I'd start with actually measuring things. What's the diameter of the hub, what's the diameter of the bore that's supposed to sit on the hub. Also, are both still round/concentric or not. If a refurb played a role here (and I personally have never heard of such a thing happening...

Thanks - they seem to be out of stock too.
Have you read their website? Of course it says that they're "out of stock" - but as far as I can tell, they will repair your own shocks if you send them in.

... have discovered https://rnse.pcbbc.co.uk/
This is still getting developed and updated in 2024 and I think for the price he's charging (15 GBP) it is utterly amazing what he has done, especially for the Gen1 units.
Excellent find! TY

Thanks for that - glad I'm not the only one. Any rubber parts in particular?
No. That was more of a general remark, but based on other money pits I own, the oldest of which is going on 55 years...

Re: Going the distance/high mileage/proper keeper.

There obviously isn't a 40-y/o B7 around, but does anyone have any views on how workable this all sounds? Not expecting a crystal ball, just thoughts, particularly from those who have even higher mileages or who've had cars that have had demanding lives. I'm exactly in the same boat, albeit with a ...

Re: All comes at once - DIY: SAI, DRC, Oil cooler, Carbon clean, Fan, Tyres, Paint Corrosion, Injector Service

Tool is coming together to enable this to be DIY and an easy regular maintenance check, i am keen to keep the DRC, its a great system. I understand people may be intersted in this so will start a new post shortly and all going well, open up a group buy to supply the tool to other enthusiasts. This ...

"or less remarkable saloon" - Everyone knows the Saloon is the one to have!!!! Well, I sure don't... :bigwave: "Prices start from around £15,000 for a good example" - Painful how much they've dropped in price since I bought mine. Of course I'm not familiar with the British market, but over here in ...

Re: Full Audi Service History - maintain or move on?

I have one of those low mileage Avants (2008 / ~35kmls). And I don't bother either. I simply will not accept main dealer prices both for hours and for spare parts. Esp. the latter point, where you sometimes pay double/triple for one and the same OEM part, just w/ the four rings, seems absurd. Also, ...

Re: Air con - ECO mode

Either your system has a leak and is (next to) empty; If you have access to OBD2 soft-/hardware (e.g. VCDS), you could read the pressure in the system and confirm. Or, the pressure sensor on the LP side is kaput, a common fault, then you'd have to exchange that. It lives right behind the front bumpe...

My understanding is that DRC is not altered in sport mode - just the mapping, exhaust and bolsters.
That was my understanding also (and I was just going to comment about it).
The DRC system is purely mechanical. It's behaviour cannot be modified by some software/electrical setting.

A/C System Pressure Sensor Threads/Part No (G65)

The pressure sensor (G65) of the A/C in the beast very likely is on the Fritz. There seem to be replacements available, differing only, AFAICS, in the thread used to screw them onto the condenser mounting point: there is a 7/16-20 variant, and a M10x1.25 variant. In order to minimize the down-time o...

Re: Vpower -Intake valve carbon?

Are Shell claiming to have solved our Carbon build-up issue? Pretty sure they do. They would claim anything in order to liberate you from your hard earned money... But, the question remains how that cleaning effect (on intake manifold/valves) would come about in a direct injected engine, wh...

I've been looking around but with no success, does anyone know if there is a workshop manual for B7 to download or even if there is a paper one for the old farts like me. ...
