Re: TCU

OK. Then infinity. So what you measured is all as I would expect it to be. That would suggest it's not the 16 pin connector and not the solenoids. So maybe a bad TCU. Where in Canada are you? Niagara Falls Ontario. My tuner said he would be able to take apart the TCU and diagnose and fix if he can ...

When you say nothing do you mean zero or infinity?
It says “1.” on the screen when it’s on but you’re not using it and when I test between those three pins, the screen doesn’t change

Re: TCU

52 & 53 nothing
33 & 52 28 ohms
33 & 34 nothing
32 & 52 27.7 ohms
32 & 34 nothing

Couldn’t do the logs because I can’t get it out of limp mode right now even after clearing codes etc.

Re: RS6 Plus showing P0172 & P0175 (System too Rich - Bank 1 & 2)

Congrats :rocker:

Right off the hop I’d assume if it was tuned and de-tuned there may be s something you need to fine tune with correct fuel octane and maybe look at the MAF at the back into the turbo inlets and make sure those are snug.

Plug it back in and unplug from the TCU to check the resistances.
Thank you very much I’ll try that tonight.
Testing the pins attached to the harness that you pull out of the TCU correct?

Re: TCU

I measured the resistance on the harness at the front that’s known to corrode because of the seals

And it was fine. Used contact cleaner and reconnected. I haven’t been able to find a spare TCU to try out I live in Canada and there’s not many of these here

Remind me what your error codes are?
Thank you sir.

TCU

Hey guys,

Anyone know how to log TCU currents or anything like it via vag com?

Had a solenoid code and replaced all the solenoids and still have the code. Want to try everything before just buying another TCU.

Thank you!

Re: Tranny Limp mode?

Maybe the solenoid is dead and it had burned out the input on the TCU. Then when you moved it, it burned out the other input, too. If your carpet is wet, though, I'd definitely want to fix that first and I'd suspect a damaged TCU. Could also be a harness issue inside the gearbox. Maybe there's a sh...

Re: RE: Gearbox VAG-COM fault ideas ?

perhaps - but could be as simple as a fuse. the shift lock solenoid is designed to prevent selection of a gear when moving out of "p" without the brake being depressed. check mb1, field 3 of the tcu using vag-com - this shows the value of the solenoid as you move out of "p" and have your foot on or...

Re: Tranny Limp mode?

I’ll give that a try this week, thank you for the help Shop.
Even after a battery reset, before the limp mode comes it takes a while to shift into 3rd and it quick slams in and out of 4th. Hard to say but Ill get those logs soon

00262 - Solenoid valve 3 (N90): Open or short to ground 00260 - Solenoid Valve 2 (N89): Open or Short to Ground Mainly it’ll be solenoid 3 but sometimes it’ll just say solenoid 2. TCU box was clean and no sign of water under the carpet Checked my pollen filter and saw it was damp underneath so I mad...

Tranny Limp mode?

Hey everyone So long story short I got a tranny limp mode a month or so ago and it puts me in 4th gear :drink: Restarting the car it will usually disappear then reappear within 5-10 minutes of driving. Used Vagcom and found code solenoid 3 (N90) short to ground. Ordered all new solenoids but they se...

Re: RS6 electronics and battery management

Isn’t that fairly normal for leaving lights on etc. The battery gets recharged once it’s being driven so as long as there’s enough cold cranking amps to turn the Engine over you’re fine

I take it the S6 heads give a higher compression ratio?
The chambers are all the same, just the pistons are different so I believe it’s same compression
