Re: RS6 Timing belt replacement DIY
I know mines just an S but I’m pretty sure you can do the same and just lay the carrier down on a milk crate or something similar, keeping the A/C and oil cooler lines connected. 648770EE-F01D-4853-89E1-87BCE3428FB1.jpeg I didn’t know about the second tensioner requiring the VAG tool, which for refe...

Re: Coolant leak (over pressuring)
I fitted a supposed good engine into my S4 from a “race engine builder” down south, seemed legit too, have a website and everything. Anyway, the heads where already on but built the engine back up, had loads of invoices for internal work so (wrongly) assumes it would be fine, start driving it and ex...

Re: DIS LED pixel problem
It’s just like the b5 fix to be honest, I’ve done my B5, TT and C5. You don’t NEED, a hot air gun but it would obviously make it easier, I’ve done all mine with a maplin soldering station, but obviously without the hot air gun your hardest part is de-soldering the ribbon. I found the C5 the hardest ...

Re: Lambdas
I know it’s a bit late, but the replacement lambda’s I got for mine came with enough cable to reach the lower lambda’s.

Re: Loss of brakes
That sounds like normal, your using what vacuum is left in the system when pressing the brakes with the engine off, hence the pedal getting firmer, I do recall the pedal should sink slightly when engine is turned on whilst pressing the pedal as vacuum is built so basically the reverse of what happen...

Re: Loss of brakes
Edit: I was replying to a notification, it seems I’ve missed quite a bit since then  Yea I agree to be fair, unless it was a complete internal failure of the servo then yea it’d just be a hard pedal. Only other option is the OP confused a hard pedal with going to the floor, it’s easily done whe...

Re: Sports cats?
Being an older car you’d get away with the smaller cats most likely, my misses 03 plate GSI went through emissions with just the pre cat installed. I’d just have a section cut out and flanges put in with cat sections made, so you can swap out nice and quickly for mot time, if that’s the case then ju...

Re: Loss of brakes
If your brake pedal went to the floor without any braking that wouldn’t indicate a vac leak, a vac leak is just a hard pedal and usually less travel than if you have vacuum.
That sounds like a Master cylinder or servo failure imo, esp if there is no loss of fluid.

Re: DAB aerial location - options?
Yea I was referring to if the diversity unit is on constantly which could hinder the DAB signal if you was trying to use the same element on the window. I’d be inclined as you say to piggy back off the fm element and tuck everything behind trim keeping the car oem looking. I would say, you soon get ...

Re: DAB aerial location - options?
Did you misread the title of this topic? Banana man, I think that’s worth a try but the antenna is plugged into the diversity unit and that’s a royal pain to get to, at least on the Avant - it’s behind the roof lining IIRC. Can’t remember where it is on the loon. On a loon it’ll most likely be behi...

Re: DAB aerial location - options?
What about one of these to replace the GPS aerial if you’ve got one? I’m not sure on the type of hole that’s in the roof for it already but even though I’m not a fan it’s probably be less noticeable in real life. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F2236...
