Just for future reference here. The leak was the RHS timing chain cover on the rear of the engine. The mechanic managed to fix it by taking out the gearbox rather than the engine. Worked out well in the end as I needed a new clutch anyway.

Oil leak - rear top of engine
Hi folks I wonder if anyone could shed some light on my oil leak. I have a couple of drops on the garage floor each day. I've been trying to find the source and it seems to be coming from somewhere at the top rear of the engine. Sort of under where the oil filter is. I initially thought it was spill...

Hi @RS4Will, I've just had this exact issue sorted on my RS4. Car would start fine from cold, but whenever warm, would just click. After a couple of tries it eventually starts. Sadly, it's the starter. Easy test is if you put the car in gear and rock back and forward so that the engine turns ever so...
