ConstiSilent tyres
To those of you who have had both the normal and ContiSilent versions of the Continental SportContact tyre, is there really much difference between them?

Re: Trickle charger
Thanks for all the recommendations - looks like there's total unanimity! Have ordered my CTEK MXS 5.0 (£62.50 - Amazon) and located the charge points to the left of the engine. It seems like it's important to charge only from the charge points and not direct to the battery as the charge points go vi...

Trickle charger
I'm not going to be using my car for a few weeks. Any recommendations for a decent trickle charger? Even better if I can use the cigarette lighter socket.

Re: Advice on a new PE
DRC every time. It has just the right amount of firmness to make the car feel planted and without rolling excessively through corners in comfort mode, while keeping all passengers in great comfort on long journeys. I specified it separately as I didn't want the dynamic steering from the Dynamic Pac...

Re: Tragic death of 35 year old S3 owner trying to prevent the theft of his car!
What is it the police aren't doing? The CPS deal with the charges and the judge applies the sentence. I think the police attitude to this type of crime was revealed in the statement that this particular incident had "crossed the line". I believe that most people would feel that the line is crossed ...

I realise it's nearly double the OP's budget, but the new Alpina B5 touring with AWD looks pretty tasty:

Re: Help All 4 wheels buckled
Personally, for a performance car like this I would not even consider getting the wheels repaired. They will never be as strong no matter how carefully they are heated etc.

Re: Help All 4 wheels buckled
Sorry to hear that it's confirmed. I feel for you - as I said, I've been there, it makes you feel sick, and it's doubly upsetting when you have cared for the wheels so you're not even getting a visual improvement with the replacements!
Push Audi for some contribution, at least.

Re: Help All 4 wheels buckled
Some years ago I had an E55 AMG. I had exactly the same experience of going for a routine service and being told that all 4 wheels were out of round. After a bit of googling it turned out that mine was not an isolated incident and there was a lot of fuss on the forums about "soft" AMG wheels. Merced...

Re: RS6 Standard vs PE
I bet cost to change would far outweigh having a war chest should the worst happen. You are probably right but I bet most people that take that option will spend the money on something else rather than keep it just in case. It's a personal choice though, some people will rather mod and save the mon...

RS6 Standard vs PE
I've had my RS6 for a year now and am very happy with it. I'm now toying with the idea of upgrading to a PE, but I've not seen any in-depth comparison of the two. Has anyone here owned both and if so can you say whether the difference is enough to warrant upgrading, particularly with regard to perfo...

Re: Torque Steer
Could it be tramlining, exacerbated by the front end going light under acceleration?
I have noticed my car doing some minor tramlining a couple of times at normal speed. I'm on 21s.
