Re: Disabling boot release button on remote fob
I wonder if the boot release switch in the driver's door pocket is disabled when the car is locked. If not, perhaps it is susceptible to either an electrical fault or someone forcing a bit of wire down the side of the door?

Re: Tyres - Toyo Proxes T1 AO
I believe AO are 'Audi Approved', and are fitted to the majority of standard Audi models. 'S' and 'RS' models should have RO1 marked tyres as far as I understand it. RO1 tyres are specifically designed for the performance models in Audi's range, but are only made by premium brand manufacturers, not...

Re: Apparently the B8 has been reclassified - insurance
Similar thing happened to me just before Xmas - insurance (previously £450ish) was coming up for renewal when the broker sent me a "sorry, sir, can't cover you next year" letter.
Ended up going to Elephant and paying c.£700, which isn't bad for London.

Re: Winter wheels and tyres
Mine usually go on at the end of November. Looking at the weather forecast I'll be doing the same this year.

Re: RS4 B8 Service Cost, 26k miles
First oil-change service for me last month was a shade under £300 at Jack Barclay.
Service was excellent - couldn't fault them.

A bit disconcerting at first but very good once you are used to it and start to trust it.Silverfox42 wrote:

No idea, sorry. My knowledge of such things is probably similar to yours but I was just observing that it doesn't sound quite the same as mine!
No doubt someone else will chime in shortly with some practical suggestions.

Re: Exhaust rattle on cold start
That does sound different to mine - the initial whoof/clatter/induction noise is normal, but yours sounds like there is a rock or something metallic rattling around in there as well.

Re: Tyre choice + winter tyres required?
Conti WinterContact TS830P are the most common ones - I believe that they are an RS model-specific tyre in that size.

Re: Tyre choice + winter tyres required?
Winters do make a noticeable difference, even if you aren't intending to go anywhere snowy. The only stock-size (265/30/20) ones that I was able to source last year were Contis, which are fine, although I would have preferred Michelin Pilot Alpin which existed in theory but not in practice. Maybe th...

Re: No anti-theft bolt key?
When I swapped for winters last year, the guy at the tyre fitters watched with some amusement as I rummaged in the obvious location in the boot trying desperately to find the key. Once he'd finished his cuppa he calmly wandered over, lifted a hidden flap and showed me where I should have been lookin...
