Re: RS6 Turbo Refurbishment

Its funny because I've asked Grizz for his views and despite going down that route himself years ago he isn't really championing the idea.

From a layman's perspective I do wonder if higher specced parts mean less stress being put on them but genuinely have no idea if there is any validity in that.

Re: RS6 Turbo Refurbishment

There is no point doing the job half arsed when you have the engine out.

Is your car in there at the moment? Its quite impressive seeing just how much room the engine and box take up!

RS6 Turbo Refurbishment

Hi all I got a price through from Unit 20 this week and we're looking to add a couple of preventative jobs into the repair as the engine is out. One of these is to refurbish the turbos as they can just be removed at no additional labour cost. Unit 20 have quoted me a price for this but as they send ...

Re: That time of year again... Failed for the 2nd year Iv'e had it !

My previous RS6 failed on the emissions test at Dundee Audi. I went and drove the car for about 1/2 mile with the car in second gear at approximately 60mph, took it straight back and the tester hooked it up and it passed. Always worth giving the system a wee blast.

Re: Gearbox Upgrades

Surely someone over here must be able to upgrade these, it's just a gearbox! They don't do anything to the casing, it's only the clutch packs that get upgraded with springs and played, easy. And verters get built over here, no? If I had enough time, I'd do them, nothing difficult. I’m at a loss as ...

Re: Gearbox Upgrades

Other thoughts are a new box, but this is negated by the car being tuned and decatted so I suspect that the two year warranty benefit wouldn’t be honoured. This is an easy check for any Audi dealer so it’s not as if it wouldn’t be picked up. Grizz has said that his sub con can refurb the box but I’m...

Re: Gearbox Upgrades

I’ve messaged a few overseas companies but I’m waiting on a cost from Grizz which I assume I won’t get until next year now.

Will keep exploring options over the festive period.

Re: Gearbox Upgrades

Just a heads up, this company said they would do a full manual conversion for under £7k https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192721568221 I messaged them and they said....... Gearbox Upgrades

Hi all

Does anyone have any up to date information on gearbox upgrade options please? I know there will be lots of info through searching, however with 517, Level 10 and ACE no longer offering upgrades then I’m keen to try and get some up to date information.

Thanks

Re: In an attempt to remain positive...

Firstly, just noticed my typo and apologies for Dace!

In that case I’d leave it anyway as it sounds like I’d have to pay for it to be removed.

Re: In an attempt to remain positive...

I’d have reservations over taking a used box with work having to be done to it, on the basis of would (and I don’t know) that work negate the previous work done by 517? I’d certainly have to know that whoever did the work was comfortable enough that they would only be making the box better and not w...

Unless of course costs are ridiculously different but I can cross that bridge when I get to it.
