Re: V10 and Milltek - match made in heaven !

We have a non res Milltek S6 V10. It doesn't always have to be screaming to draw attention. The deep (and loud) sounds get noticed even when stooging around town at low speed. I pulled up the other day outside the Coop and an old guy walked up to me and said "Just what engine is in that car? It soun...

Re: Potential Purchase

Go for it! We sold our B7 RS4 earlier in the year and had an A6 3.0TDI for a while but it was just too tame. Went for one of the oldest cars we have owned in years, an 06 reg S6.V10 Full Milltek exhaust. It might not have the handling by any means of the RS4 but when we open her up, the ground shake...

Re: that same old question again,,,FLAPS!!

I think we have all had that "No Spring" feeling when freeing them darn things off. :( Then, after you are blathered in carbon oil mix and just about to give up and believe the spring is broken.....Bingo, its free. It really does have to be very free to allow the spring to close them. After all its ...

Re: What a tool these things are!

There's a common thread running though this, er, thread. I often go out in mine for no good reason other than to enjoy the sublime handling, the third gear shove and that V8 burble. And of course to deplete the ozone layer a bit more :) Our garage is part of the house. I love it when the wife moans...

Re: What a tool these things are!

I dont use mine much at this time of year, especially if its clean and snug in the garage. Yesterday we had a 120 mile trip planned and I expected it to be blathered to the eyeballs after and was looking forward to getting it cleaned up. The strange thing is that we did 120 miles on dry salt free ro...

Re: Insurance -Just got surprisingly low quote

Ours was £298 with Swiftcover on auto renew. That was £20 LESS than last year so I didnt quibble it.

Having read about sub £200's now I realise I made a huge mistake and should have shopped around again. Wont make the same error next year!

Re: Almost 7 years ownership

DSG.....unless they have changed the software recently, even in "Manual" mode, when you hit the floor and feel the full throttle microswitch click, it screams to max revs like its panicking. The wife has a TT turbo diesel DSG, its 2 years old and even when i drive that it annoys me. She has sometime...

Re: Almost 7 years ownership

B8 Manual sounds great. I have had a few DSG cars and after the initial novelty wears off I find it excruciatingly irritating. When we had the Golf GTI DSG, other agreed who drove the same car. I never got used to all them revs when sometimes all you want to do is smoothly overtake in 5th/ 6th!! The...

Re: Long Haul! 410 miles outta 1x tank? Yey or ney?

Definitely put a back up 5L spare can in the boot for that one!

On a holiday in Scotland a few years ago we almost ran out and it was scary. Had to put crappy 95 fuel in at a budget station as an emergency. Since then, whenever I pass V Power, we fill up!

Re: Exhaust butterfly cleaning

When we got ours both sides were stuck solid. I read many stories on here to help. In the end, we sprayed aerosol grease on the inside and outsides every day. When hot it melts in to the pivots well and remains there for some protection. Near side took a few days with wiggling with the handle of a p...

Re: Spotted on Pistonheads RS4 B7

Unless I am mistaken, I am sure I followed that car through Lincoln city centre yesterday. I was in a big blue van on a job.

As a Misano owner too, it looked good.

Good luck with the sale!

Re: squeaky sound when turning

We discovered a cure for this last year when I noticed it manovering in a tight place with head out window to see the wheels.

Close all windows and turn music up when nearing full lock!

Rick,
I live about 2 mins from Blyton Park. I would be keen to pop down on that day too. The car would still be cold on arrival! Let me know when something concrete is sorted and I will do my best.

MOT Day today.

Today was MOT day. On a complex seven year old car I was kind of "nervous" of the outcome. Looking through recent MOT's before my purchase last year showed that when luck was against you it could be costly. I turned up at 11am to pick up (Just AudiVW Lincoln) and find a PASS. No advisories and the e...

Re: Yellowish Fluid Leak Driver's Side Aux Rad Air Intake

Looks like a perfect spot for cat pee. Our front drive is a passing point for many moggies and they have done this now and again for years. Neutered Toms still spray and it doesnt stink like full Toms. Last year a ditect hit to front caliper had me looking for a fluid leak! I would wash it off and s...
