Re: Maximum gearbox torque before slipping

Nope, builder never got to it. Figured it was glazed clutch packs, as there was never debris in the fluid. Maybe the plastic pipe that can crack and not hold pressure. Just wouldn't hold full power...

Re: Maximum gearbox torque before slipping

I had a similar issue last year on a rebuilt and upgraded box. Tozo in the U.S. built it. Break in seemed a bit rough, then was ok, drove it hard for six months and it started slipping from 3rd to 4th under WOT. Tried to diagnose everything, end guess was burnt clutch packs. He sent me another one u...

Re: Yet another gearbox thread

So you bought a car with failing torque converter, and failed or worn clutches in the trans from the slipping TC...my guess at least. Replace both and you'll be good! Give it 50-100 miles for the TC code to show back up.

Hahahahaha :audibash:

You can remove without taking out the engine, difficult to get to the bolts. My mechanic did it though :notworthy:

Re: Buying a C5 RS6 still on original gearbox and suspension

Suspension is easy, Koni Yellow struts, cheap and great ride/height.

As stated, drive it and make sure shifts feel fine, try a WOT in 3rd while in Tip and see if she holds or shakes.

Don't drive the piss out of it and the trans might just hold up. Also helps to not be tuned for power...

You can open them up and fix the solder, works most of the time. Someone just did a full write up with pics on rs6.com.

Re: Where is the filling point for gearbox oil?

There are people who have machines to do it properly. Correct temperatures, cycling etc. etc. One I know of is Mackies in Glasgow, another (temporarily unavailable while moving premises) is in Swindon. Where are you? Yes, it's just having the manual and VCDS, and knowing how to use it. Any Audi/Eur...

Re: Where is the filling point for gearbox oil?

See the Audi manual on my site. You'll need VCDS, and a lift ideally, plus a pump filler with flexible tube. Try and find out what brand of fluid is in it, think it's not the best to mismatch.

Re: Cryo cooling question

Sounds fair, I also want to do the meth/water injection just having problems sorting through the devil's own kits. Accomplished the Sportec mod, and instead of Wagners, I have the Apikol ones. Don't use the Devils Own kit. I hate it (although I do like the 7 litre boot tank). I had an HSF-3(?) Aqua...

Re: Constant running coolant fan.

Might not be applicable to you as the topic is the coolant fan but for others 'hearing' a fan, check to see if you have the solar sunroof panel which powers a small air re-circulation fan for the cabin. :biggrin2: I can only hear that fan when the car is off, it's fairly quiet, even in full sun...b...

Mtm or Viper can remap your TCU, yes. Hundreds of owners have done this by now. Makes the shifts a bit crisper and faster, changes shift points, few other goodies. :jump_clap:

Re: Trans Fluid - how much?

I think we got in about 12-13 liters including the cooler and lines last time we did a complete flush....you do have the manual and VCDS correct? Here's the link to it if you need. I always like to go back a week later and double check to make sure it's topped off, easy enough. http://audirssix.com/...

Never once heard of the RS6 trans referenced as anything else...and it still needs upgraded VB pressure, updated clutch discs, and multiple pins and seals replaced to be better.

Re: Wagner intercoolers

What Shopp said, but I personally wouldn't bother with the carbon stuff. It costs quite a bit and you don't even see the bloody things once they're fitted. IF you can buy them without the carbon ducting, sure. The stock air ducting does not match the full size if I remember correctly, but close. I'd...
