Just pick a suitable oil with the correct VAG spec, your only topping up.

I have a set of Thule bars for mine, they clamp on to the roof rails with an Allen key then have a locking cover.

I did try autosol and a non metal scourer, how do you shift the really big burnt on lumps? Ive heard that coca cola works well?? Thanks Mat I think most of the bigger lumps on mine were road tar, I used very fine wire wool and white spirit after scrapping (?) off the worst with a non metal scraper....

Don't give up on the exhaust tip's, I found that they will clean up well with a bit of elbow grease and Autosol. My 2009 has the oil cooler(I think) behind the nearside but the offside is solid.

Air filter, 57k. yes really!! Pollen filter, 19k or two years. So they think the pollen filter is three times more importnant!!!
I changed my own pollen filter on my last A4 b8, bought from a motor factors about £14 for a carbon version, Audi one £29.
5 minute job in passenger foot well.

57k for plugs. Mine had just been changed when I bought it. Sorry don't know which brand.
