Re: Top idler pulley for V-belt
Sorted! The paint was just thick enough to drag on it when tightened up. Cleaned it up and all good now.

Top idler pulley for V-belt
Hi all, weird one that I can’t find anywhere; I’m doing cam belt and while it’s all apart was replacing some extra bits, including new bearing for the top idler pulley. It’s the triangular thingy with three holes that you need to line up to bolt onto the engine bracket. Now, when I bolt it into the ...

Re: Auto dim rear view mirror glass
Mine has arrived, which is awesome, cheers! I've had a look at getting started swapping it over, but it looks less obvious than I hoped. A how-to would be most excellent, thanks!

Re: Auto dim rear view mirror glass
Hello! Mine has had a line across for about five years but no leaks, would love to get it fixed though, so happy to join in here! Steve2003rs6

Re: RS6 C5 Total electrical failure - solved...
Was your interior damp under the carpet / soundproofing? I would think the CCM has been drowned if the water in the scuttle got high enough to corroded the maxi fuses. Luckily, no, all good, E-box and interior all dry. My drive has a bit of a slope, and the car was parked sideways so maybe that has...

Re: RS6 C5 Total electrical failure - solved...
Haha, I say pulled it apart, I only really took the dash panel off over the main relay board, lifted carpet for CCM and fished about around the battery. I did do a bit of a google on leccy faults, and asked my Audi technician nephew, both suggested a waterlogged CCM. I was also down the Bentley manu...

RS6 C5 Total electrical failure - solved...
Just a headsup for anyone with similar problem - took me a while to find it. Had total electrical failure a fortnight ago - nothing, like the battery was disconnected. Took most of the interior apart, suspected CCM module etc, before finally finding the two big main 150 and 200 amp fuses on the fire...

External tidy up
The old RS is getting old of course, and I want to tidy it up a bit. The paint is still good, but the black plastic trim round the mirrors and the rubber seals round the door windows are getting old and tatty. Anyone sorted these out? Are the door seals even replaceable? Any tips for renovating the ...

Re: Headlight adjustment warning light?
It won't let me do that. Both group one and two show 'ERROR GROUP 001/002 NOT AVAILABLE' in red. The measuring blocks are there (group 1: 12.12v Voltage supply 0 light switch status 0kph vehicle speed 0 acceleration; group 2: 1.39v front sensor, 2.56v rear, 49.6% Actuator Motor Activation 0.03s Time...

Re: Headlight adjustment warning light?
Cheers Shop! Level sensors are giving 2.2f and 1.6 rear I think, my drive is on a slope. I'm wondering if the wee control box is fubar? The fact I can only do the output settings once then it fails to communicate is fishy?
Do you mean VCDS FAQs? Had a go in there, no joy.

Headlight adjustment warning light?
Hey all, been struggling with this for a while. I had the bumper on the RS6 C5 Avant off to get painted, so had headlights removed etc. It's all back together now, but I'm getting the headlight adjustment warning light. Tried to do the adjustment with the VAG cable and VCDS but can't seem to get it ...

Yep - I panicked and faffed about a bit, but it was easy enough in the end. Much worse awaited me haha!

Re: Alternator time
Yep - if I remember right, you just put a 1/2 inch drive bar into a hole on the tensioner and you can lever it round. It's quite hard, so I used a big bar. You can't really see much but it's easy enough once you work it out.
