its very ease to change, pinch the gas lines on both sides, the filter sits outside the fuel tank, towards the front. pinch the lines, pull each line out, and replace.....easy....with lift very easy

it might be the abs sensor, they are located in the hub/axle, they are magnetic and do pick up rust from time to time. This will throw an ESP light and cut power. Just another suggestion, if your worried about heat soak...there is always the sportec mod that many in the states have done to their underside tray. It lowers oil temps by 25 degrees.
