At that stage I had already destroyed two STD clutches, and decided not to destroy/waste the third as it was obvious that the STD clutch can not cope with serious track abuse.

Re:heavier wheels - makes a huge difference. The only reason f1 cars are fitted with carbon brakes is that the unsprung mass is much lighter which adds acceleration and braking performance. I don't doubt the make a huge difference (I used to have a production racer & you couldn't change the wheels)...
