Yep 4K part only. Just checked. Gulp.
This is Audi so they should be using the vagcom. I'll get the level checked and hope its just a minor problem

Re: CAT and Engine block damage - advice please
Thanks Marv, I really do worry over how they actually come to these conclusions... low fluid or a replacement solenoid doesnt really justify a new gearbox. Who knows what testing they have done. Shop:- does the exhaust gas sender control how rich the fuel is? (as in your previous diagnosis) Could th...

Re: CAT and Engine block damage - advice please
** UPDATE ** OK, I eventually gave in and took the car to Audi as I needed an experts opinion... They have suggested that the Vacuum system and Exhaust gas sender/sensor is replaced. Again, my lack of mechanical knowledge prevents me from knowing whether this will resolve the problems. They did also...

Re: CAT and Engine block damage - advice please
It would be nice if you could do those that tried to help you out the courtesy of telling them what the correct diagnostic was. If I was confident to identify whether a) the problem has actually been fixed or b) the garage havent replaced a number of parts without actually knowing what the fault wa...

Re: CAT and Engine block damage - advice please
Sorry Bam, forgot to mention the wife was picking up my dry cleaning ha ha.
Yes these guys have a very good reputation and a lot of expensive cars in the workshops (that isnt to say they are being fixed!)

Re: CAT and Engine block damage - advice please
When the car is running I would happily do a run from the Middle East to the UK... Doesnt really stretch its legs as much as I would like. As I understand it because of the intense heat in the CAT this caused the engine blocks to melt. I wasnt aware that the blocks were able to cut the power which c...

Re: CAT and Engine block damage - advice please
As far as im aware the have some diagnostics kit but possibly not VAGCOM. They are currently looking at the relay that controls the fuel pressure but I think that is unlikely as there has been unburnt fuel in the CAT, whereas if it was the relay id assume there would be no fuel getting through. I do...

CAT and Engine block damage - advice please
Hi all, my expensive RS6 experience continues... Last time I made an appearance on these forums I had fuel starvation problems causing hesitation issues. one fuel pump, one regulator, a complete timing belt kit, replacement spark plugs and an aux belt later my misery was finally over. (ok, I didnt h...

Re: Wot no spankin?
Maybe they shouldnt be allowed judging by some of the locals. They think the three mirrors are extra vanity mirrors to save you folding down the sun visor!
Saudi has the no woman ban tho. Thankfully Dubai is a lot more Western-ised, but without the chavs!

Re: Wot no spankin?
Not truly a spankin'.... But my girlfriend (clearly without encouragement) managed to top mine out to 280 KPH. Didnt feel there was a great deal left in her (the car not the girlfriend) after that. Cant remember exactly what we passed on the way and may not have even recognised anything, but I can c...

Re: Fuel Pump assistance please..
Ha ha, like getting messy but unfortunately im mechanically retarded and would be the one with odd nuts, bolts and thingys in a pool on the floor! The car is currently at the workshop so I will ask some "informed" questions on how certain they are it is the fuel pump. Im assuming they have a VAGCOM ...

Re: Fuel Pump assistance please..
Hi Shoppinit, They have said that it is the internal pump. I also had the engine light come on but I didnt get a chance to check the codes before I put it in. As I understand it they have done a pressure test. Anything I can ask to confirm the issue or get them to double check? Thanks for the advice...

Re: Emissions light - Help please..
Just to close this particular post... It did appear to be down to the MAF sensors. Since these have been replaced the light has gone off and car has been running well (until recent fuel pump issue - but thats another post
)
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
Gary
