I understand your concern - I'd suggest giving Martin at Unit20 a call who I'm sure will give you some good advice - he was always very helpful whenever I rang him about issues.

I believe it may have worked loose - when Martin at Unit20 built up the replacement engine he said the manifold was badly worn so a new one was fitted which if IRC was an eye-watering £2.5K. Perhaps the right spec of Loctite might be worthwhile.

I bought my 2006 saloon (registered 6th March) in 2011 so tax savings of over £2500 have certainly helped in the running costs, particularly a replacement engine in 2018 !

It certainly acts as a small incentive to keeping it

On speaking to Martin at Unit20, he told me the caliper connecting pipe was available from Ebay - ordered it yesterday and it arrived today for £25.00 - getting it fitted on Monday so MOT will be sorted.

Sorry, I didn't explain the problem accurately - the pipe that split is the looped metal one that links one part of the caliper to the other.

While it was being MOT'd my beloved RS decided to split a brake pipe while on its road test having passed the static test. DRC at 111,000 miles is pretty impressive assuming it hasn't been repaired earlier in its life.

Good luck with the B8s when you reach the same situation as I did.

After 126,000 miles my DRC finally failed, given away by what sounded like golf clubs rattling in the boot.
