This is more or less on my door step, I heard or read on another forum about someone having their RS4 lifted in Warwick before xmas too.

I know a local armed policeman, I might bend his ear on the quiet and see what he knows.

Got a slight whistle in 4th gear at relatively low revs, 1-3k. It's not apparent in any other gear. Anyone got ay experience with this? It's been there since I've had the car but I've only just noticed it (a good indication as to how quiet it is, it's hard to spot with the radio for example)

It could be a syncro issue. the early B6 S4's suffered from this apparently and it was a fix that should/could have been done under warranty. I don't know much about it but if you speak to Audi they will be able to tell you the full history of the work undertaken by them including all warranty work.
