See this lovely looking beast a lot when I'm driving Mrs Fizmo to and from work. It makes the pain of not having my RS that little bit worse. It sounds bloody lovely too. They all do. Ahhhh, memories.

I may be a little late to the thread, but it sounds to me like there was no shortage of 'special fluid' flying around that day. Might have made your steering a bit sticky though.

I've ben happily running Mintex pads front and rear since I've had the car. Yup - Unit 20 is about 30 mins drive from me, but even if they were at the other end of the country the journey would be worth it. Total peace of mind knowing the motor is in good hands. Amar, did you give Adrian Flux a call before going with Admiral? They were significantly cheaper than Admiral for me (though it became academic with Admiral anyway because they wouldn't cover a modded car). That is a filthy beast of an insurance bill!

I've always found Adrian Flux to be superb - and they are pretty much the default option for modified cars. Usually it works out cheaper to insure a modded car with them than to insure a standard car with a bigger insurance group.
