and is this what is causing my car to "die off" seconds after the power kicks in? No. Sounds more like gearbox issues. Have you got a vagcom? Gear box is supposedly reconditioned, the company who did the box said it had a boost leak when they tested it, but another friend says both engine mounts ar...

My RS6 has apparently now got 2 fractured engine mounts, also just after gearbox being re-conned. A reliable mechanic friend thinks the gearbox firm will have tightened the bolts on the alloy mounts without taking the weight of the engine/gearbox thus putting undue stress on the alloy as it has to l...

I am picking my car up tomorrow after having the gearbox completely re-built. I had had a few instances of "limp home" and had read and subsequently hoped that changing the oil and filter could be the cure so i took it in. The garage drained all the oil and replaced it. Apparently the oil was filthy...

i bumped into dave courtney in a club in leeds once. he was in there with a load of heavies, he was up here as a special guest for a boxing promotion. i recognised him and mentioned that i had his book. i then asked him if he had read it! he laughed and in a thick cockney accent replied "huhhuhhuh, ...

Like Mo said, the power-wieght issue shouldnt really have been an issue. You should have smoked him (unless he had a quaiffe dif or something). With the 6 there are many factors that go against us: - Current heat wave will speed up heat soak hence lack of pace after a couple of secs - MAF's are moo...

Re: RE: Thanks
I would change the fluid and see how it goes (unless this has been done recently?), but make sure it is done correctly (up to temp, checked with VCDS etc). Take to someone who knows how to work on the RS6 ;-) When my gearbox went (usual slip and BANG followed by limp mode and then no torque to road...

I hope something comes of this, i've just replaced my DRC with H&R's but its the principal of the matter. The fact is that they are avoiding their responsibilities to paying customers and allowing vehicles to be driven in a very unsafe and unsatisfactory condition due to an inherent design flaw. My ...

I don't think there are any. Or maybe MTM do one for megabucks. I never figured out why though, because as far as I can see (which, I admit, isn't very far at all) an S8 or S6 manual box could fit? Would be a nasty job, though. it may well do, the transmission service guide posted earlier was for a...

JByrne: Sounds like good advice. My fear is that they will change the oil again, but properly so that it runs ok then expect me to go away happy. sadly i fear that this will be a very shortlived solution and in 1000 miles time it will pack up completely, and they will be making out it is no longer a...

Is this guide for the S8 ok for the RS6? As far as I can tell, the gearbox looks the same? What about other ancilliaries? @andrewwilson8: I would have thought that the garage's professional liability insurance will cover this. You may need to get an independant expert to drain your gearbox and meas...
