Re: Sticking solenoid or something more sinister?
Hmmm... had similar work done to my box and they replaced the valvebody, why I don't know, but it was replaced along with clutch packs etc. It's always tricky having an auto trans rebuild and it only takes one bit of <beep> in the valvebody and you have problems. I wouldn't be risking it, insist on ...

RE: Re: RE: Gearbox brain burp
In part a funny thread to read.... Later in the year I'm intending to have a box rebuilt with beefed up parts, where available for the 5HP24A box, however it will be done in Australia where they have a good idea, like the yanks with the auto boxes. Fundamentally the internals of the box are fine for...

The pass wont be open that early in the season. It is one of the last passes to open. The only exception is when the Giro goes over it and then they make a special effort to clean it. It is a wonderful pass, but not ideal for the RS6, I live nearby and avoid it with the audi. Last time I went over i...

Well put Shoppinit... Yes, if anything fails in the box then it is best to replace all, clutch packs, bearings, seals, valve body and the appendix. 25hrs plus of surgery is a lot and is best done only once.. Speak with Martin from unit20, his hourly rates are cheaper than going private (audi) and he...

RE: Re: Gaining revs when changing gears.
Vagcom will not show if the clutches are slipping unless you have a total failure of the gear. It sounds more like clutch wear than converter because it happens when changing gear. It is not normal.

Yes there is some document going around saying as such. C5 RS6 has a tendency to distort disks when the axle flange/ bearing is not running true. I changed this after speaking with Grizz and so far so good... Shouldn't be happening to a C6 at this early stage in life. Those wear-in instructions appl...

RE: Brake issue
Jez, I didn't think of the salt, but yes it does manage to find its way in there.
I would be interested if it makes a difference.
Cheers, Paul

RE: Brake issue
I'm using the C6 disks on a C5 RS6 and find the disks don't perform as well (including a slight vibration) if they don't regularly get given a hard time. The cross drilled holes also have a tendency to accumulate brake dust/grime. The best solution is to go out and do some hard braking and lightly e...

If the car is near Munich it would be a good idea speaking to Florian of Gruber Motorsport. He knows the RS6 and has an audi workshop nearby that can replace what is necessary.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Add me to the failed torque converter li
Shoppinit is right about changing the box and converter together. The oil is going to be <beep> black regardless after 65k miles even if it is ok. I had my box done in an audi garage in germany, not reconditioned fully but new valve body and clutch packs (1st,2nd,3rd gear are one unit) and it was mu...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Add me to the failed torque converter li
I guess you haven't got much to lose and if you can do it yourself then it saves some money. Just note the temperatures for changing and make sure it is audi oil. I did an oil change the first time and it changed nothing, but that was dropping what was in the pan. The box still had a problem of slip...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Add me to the failed torque converter li
If the box is on its last legs then changing ATF fluid isn't necessarily a good idea. I had the oil changed and the box went pop. Speak to someone like Grizz before spending the money on the oil change
