RE: Re: RE: Fast Idle Problem? Is there an idle stabilisati

Car went into MTM and they noticed a misfire on some cylinders so they said injectors and coils need doing, which is also causing the high idle. As MTM cant do warranty work I took it to the dealer and they have had it a week and after swapping over some coils they say the misfire is random and not ...

As an update -

Audi said it could not be repaired.

MTM garage lifted the back seat and it shows two access points to the fuel tank top and these allowed the O rings to be replaced. The existing O rings were perished.

RE: Fast Idle Problem? Is there an idle stabilisation valve

I did VAGCOM and got no fault codes - any measuring blocks I can check?

Cheers

Fast Idle Problem? Is there an idle stabilisation valve.

Hi On start up the car sometimes idles at 1800rpm and will stay there until put into drive, or sometimes it slowly drops to 800rpm, or sometimes it starts and goes straight to 800rpm. Can happen hot or cold. Also, when driving along and braking towards stopping, it feels like the engine is pushing t...

The RS6 is my run around commuter - pics of weekend car attached but the white 911 turbo is now sold (with only 10k miles on the clock!). The other black one is a 1994 964 Turbo 3.6 with plenty of mods - less than 1000 ever made...

I think the cost of the tank is small compared to the labour etc but thanks for finding that. I am more interested to know if it is possible to replace the grommets or even seal them with petrol resistant silicone (or similar). Out of interest, I read an article that says that refineries are adding ...

RE: Replacing lower suspension bushes

I think you need to press out. If you do the lower then you might as well do them all as the others will be on way out. I think there is a big one and a small one top and bottom... When I got all mine done they sharpened up the handling and reduced the pedal vibration when the engine is cold and pul...

RE: Hesitation as boost increases - MAF O ring seals?

Andy - I agree it could be the ECU limiting it and yes it does happen in 4th and 5th only at 2700-3000 when the torque/boost is max. However, my car has developped it and it used to not do it so I think there is a boost/vac leak and/or N75 solenoid. I will let you know what I find....and if I get ti...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Put the Plus on a dyno

Interesting - a few of you say N75 boost solenoid was replaced to get the power. Apart from lower dyno output, what characteristics did you notice before it was changed as I have been logging block 115 and checking boost levels and not sure if the N75 is to blame for its behaviour so would appreciat...

Leaking petrol tank - how much as quote is outrageous??

My petrol tank leaks a little when it is filled to the top - it leaks out of the pipe grommet that feeds the engine. Only does it when totally filled up but you can smell it in the garage in the morning. Took it Audi and they said it needs a new petrol tank as they cannot repair the grommet connecto...

RE: Coolant temp gauge goes up on idle

Update: Temp fluctuation got worse and was always slightly over 90 even on a steady drive at 60mph. It never overheated thankfully. Car is in at Audi dealer and they confirm it is the water pump that is faulty. They will do the pump and thermostat for about GBP650 and it should be covered by the war...

RE: Hesitation as boost increases - MAF O ring seals?

I changed my MAFs out about 5 months ago. Slightly sharper feel and better VAGCOM readings but it was not a massive difference - my old ones probably were ok just a bit tired....

I would agree with Mooch on both counts - price and what an M5 is like. First few drives (and when you are on its case) and they are great, nimble, agile, rewarding, feel fast etc. Long term when you drive normally (like 90% of the time) you will get sick of having to wring its neck to go anywhere h...

RE: Hesitation as boost increases - MAF O ring seals?

Cleared DTCs and logged it for 1 hour during on/off fast driving. At the end got one DTC: 1 Fault Found: 17537 - Fuel Trim: Bank 2 (Mult): System too Rich P1129 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent I logged 001, 002 and 115 (boost). Key things I noted: On idle MAFS are fairly similar and are ...
