my a6 2.7t did exactly the same on one of the back doors after sitting for a while. never found how to fix it as when i used it daily the problem disappeared. i guess a dry electrical connection etc. try keeping battery charged and lock/unlock it a lot i had an old 100 avant whose shell twisted etc ...

how did you get on? did you fix it?

i am having trouble getting a spanner to move the bleed nipple, there is too much stuff around it. i can get a socket on no problem, but then oil will go everywhere. (9mm)

am i missing something?

thanks

i guess it depends on the casting around bearings as you say the only engine ive had to do big end/main bearing shells was a 4cyl cavalier, and its main bearings (all 5 of them) did not look as though they would impede the pistons coming out the bottom (once crank off) likely s4 is quite different i...

i.ve never understood why you cannot remove the pistons via crank though? the bore is (presumably) the same size all along its length. there should be a small ridge from wear, might cock up my theory, but then there should be a similar size ridge at the top near the cyl head... i've never heard of a...

(old audi 100, garage put new fuel lines on, but sawed through new flexible hose on sharp edge of tank while fitting, took a few months to leak, grrr) the few guys who do care dont make any money, so not sure how it will ever...
