Oil change twice a year (spring and autumn) from new to 90 Tkm 0W40 was used, thereafter 5W30, according to Audi Service directive, both fully synthetic, regular Audi-Service from 2000 - 2008, same owner all the way. What puzzles me is that just cylinders 1 and 6 (close to gearbox) are affected, on ...

well, thinner oil "flows" better, quite right.....and therefore the film does not stay at the cams if the engine is idled for a few days. With 5W-50 it would stay.

Thicker oil is a little more "sticky" and that's what is needed in this case.

Would agree to dodgydave: 5W-50 is better suited in the long run. Some engines developed camshaft wear above 50,000 km due to the very thin 0W-50 especially if the car is not used every day. Cams seem to fall dry when the engine is not used for some days. At start of an engine which was idled for a ...

the 360 Spyder has abt. 1500 kgs empty weight (Spyder has abt. 80 kgs more than Coupe) and compared to the stock RS4 the engine has 67 Nm less torque. With a slightly tuned RS4 ABT (420 HP, 540 Nm, i.e. 167 Nm more than the 360) you can outrun a 360 Spyder up to 200 km/h. Have done it several times....
